not true..

Symbols are core elements that people all over the world can relate to easily. The J?germeister stag carrying the shining cross between its antlers, together with the gothic brand name, surely differs from any other symbol existing in our industry.

Here is the story behind it - the life of Saint Hubertus:
Born in the seventh century as the eldest son of Duke Bertrand du Toulouse, Hubert becomes a Count Palatinate under Theoderich of Burgundy at the age of twenty. The intrigues of the majordomo Ebroin against Hubert and envy of his purity render Hubert's position unsustainable. He is forced to flee for his life and finds refuge with his uncle Pipin de Heristal, the ruler of the Eastern territory of the Franks.

The feuding between Pipin and Theoderich, however, leads to a battle between them at Testry, in which Pipin's troops are victorious with Hubert's help. Pipin rewards Hubert for his support by naming him seneschal and thus the highest palace official. He marries the prince's daughter, Floriabana von Loeven.
His happiness is, however, brief. Soon Floribana dies in Tervueren in giving birth to her first child. Hubert, who had been accustomed to sumptuous feasts and exuberant hunts, now seeks comfort and distraction in lonely hunting forays.

One Christmas Eve, so the story goes, he encounters on one of these hunts the wondrous image of a splendid stag carrying a shining cross between its antlers. Through his vision Hubert is moved to transform his life. He gives up his high rank of office and distributes his wealth among the poor and the church. He renounces his dukedom and is ordained as a priest by Bishop Lambert of Maastricht, whom he succeeds as bishop when Lambert is murdered. He founded several monasteries during self-sacrificial missionary work in the Ardennes, his earlier hunting grounds, until his death on 30 May 727 in Tervueren.

His earlier passion for hunting and the central incident in his life - the encounter with the stag - have made Hubert the Patron Saint of all hunters.

Mr Curt Mast, who created the recipe for J?germeister in 1935, was a passionate hunter. His passion for hunting and nature, as well as the composition of the natural ingredients in the recipe, were the reason for naming the herbal liqueur J?germeister.

By the way: The name J?germeister is not made up, it translates literally into "hunting master", a title that still exists today.

dans is correct. Jager means 'hunter' and meister means 'master'. There's no hidden meaning behind the symbol on the label.
