Question:

The counselor for the alcohol class I went to said 80 days, which I really don't believe. I have read 80 hours. Does anyone for sure?

Answers:
Using a Urine Analysis (UA), alcohol can be detected up to about 10 hours, but it may be longer depending on the types and amounts of impurities absorbed by your body, your rate of metabolism and your general health. The UA test looks for very small concentrations of contaminates, called metabolites, which can be used to determine which specific products have been used. The body naturally stores metabolites in the fatty cells and fast growing cells in your body. These metabolites leach out into the blood over time and are expelled mostly through the urinary tract. Metabolites stay in the fat for different periods of time causing you to fail a drug test many weeks or months in the future. Your fat content, activity level and your metabolism all have a major impact on how long chemicals can be detected in your system.

If the UA was testing for alcohol and you had alcohol metabolites in your system at the time you took
the test, then you would test positive for alcohol use.
