Why on earth do people drink red wine cold? That is awful!!!?!

Question:

Why on earth do people drink red wine cold? That is awful!!!?

Answers:
So is drinking White Zinfandel, but people do it anyway....

I really can't tell you. I don't drink red wine at all since it gives me a terrible headache.

Why on earth do you care how people take their wine?

I drink red wine chilled, but only because room temperature here in California is normally above 75f.
At that temperature and above the alcohol begins to evaporate, the wine has no freshness of fruit and is overall unpleasant.
I have no problem, when ordering a bottle of red in a restaurant, to ask for an ice bucket to bring the wine's temp down to 60-65f. But NEVER enough to put a frost on the glass.

Oh, BTW, love your festive outfit!

Where people drink red wine cold???? I am Greek and in my country only white wine served cold, NEVER red.

Maybe they're misinformed. Yes, red wine should be _slightly_ chilled. Because the French stored their wines in a cellar where the temp was about 55F. By the time it was opened and allowed to breathe, the temp was around 60-65F. That's the optimal drinking temp. Even white wine shouldn't be refrigerated-cold. Whites get better when they come down in temp after opened.

The only "red" I can think of that people drink COLD is Lambrusco. Which to me is just a step away from Mad Dog.

Most people don't. I think it's pretty obvious that those who do, prefer it that way. Many would thing that is "awful". Personally, to each his or her own. It's about enjoying it... that's what counts.

Oh! Mr. Class please be an educated one... the red wine is not cold but chilled. It is called personal taste, get it??

Same reason a wino drinks out of a paper bag........ Shame on them

Because that's they way you're supposed to drink it.

A nice Cabernet Sauvignon is best served at room temperature, although it can be served chilled for those who prefer.

After a few glasses, you won't don't really care. lol
