there are some great dry rose wines from spain (navarra region) and also the south of france that are perfect for patio season and BBQs. Sadly, the best ones are released closer to the end of the summer, but there are a few average wines you can get year-round. If you are in Ontario, pop into one of the larger LCBO stores and they should have a good selection in stock.
Rose wine isnt really a "dry" wine, it's more of an in between wine.
I like a good Pinot Noir for nightime deck drinking.
actually I prefer a nice white dry wine...something like Soave Bolla - excellent wine!
Try Mateuse. It's a very good Portugese rose that is easy to find.
Rose d'Anjou
peach arbor mist. mmmmmmmmmmm
you can try white zinfandel, reisling wine or a gewurtztraminer wine.
There's a nice french bordeaux rose that is quite dry. It's called Clos Du Bourbon and my preference is the 2005. Its not expensive and can be found in most fine wine stores. We just did a tasting this past weekend of roses and this was the most dry. I think the bordeaux roses are noticeably drier than the normal grenache/syrah blends.
I second the nomination for Matteus.
My own choice would be to buy some cheap Rose or Blush from Gallo or such, and pour it over a pitcher that contains, halved and crushed, two oranges, one lemon, one lime, one tangerine, perhaps a bit of other fruit juice, a shot of brandy, a dash of pernod, a tray of ice cubes, and finely granulated sugar to taste. Fresh sangria is a joy to all!
