Why is urine colorless when you are intoxicated?!

Question:

Why is urine colorless when you are intoxicated?

Answers:
Urine is colorless when you are intoxicated because what you drink is mostly water.

Urine excretes minerals in your body and harmful substances such as ammonia and urea. The concentration of these substances depend upon your kidney function and what you eat.

Assuming you digest an average amount of daily recommended minerals and then drink a lot of beer or wine, then your urine will be less yellow than if you drank less beer or wine.

I suggest you just drink a lot water to experiment, (pretending its beer or wine so you won't suffer a hangover) and you will notice the lighter if not colorless color of your urine within a few hours.

It is not abnormal to see such change. If you resume your normal consumption of food or water, it will revert to how it normally is.

As a few other people have mentioned, alcohol is a diuretic causing more water to mixed in your urine and causing the urge to go to the bathroom more when you are drunk or drinking.

I wonder that too!
It must be that when you are drinking you pee alot and pee out all the yellow or something....? lol

it is clear because it is diluted with the excess fluid you drank. If you are dehydrated it becomes darker. Normally it is yellow.

Your draining more fluid than usual so there is less urea (that's what makes pee yellow) in it.

Because you are drinking so much your urine is diluted and you lose alot of it.Ever notice when you wake up in the morning and go your urine is a darker yellow? The less urine you pass the yellower it is.

Colorless urine has nothing to do with being intoxicated. It has to do with the excessive amount of fluid you are drinking. Not only that, but alcohol is a diuretic, meaning, it pulls water out of your cells. Just like caffeine will do. The more concentrated your urine is, the darker it is.

Because it's dilute. The alcohol acts as a diuretic, making your kidneys excrete more water in relation to waste (the yellow part), so it appears so light as to be clear.

You're drunk!!! It only looks clear..................

It's not specifically when you're intoxicated...it has to do with the alcohol itself. Alcohol is diuretic, which basically means that it makes you pee more than you normally do. Usually when you pee, your body is excreting waste products. However, alcohol will force you to pee even when you don't have any waste products to excrete. Instead, you primarily excrete water, which is why your urine looks clear. This is also why you're supposed to drink at least a full glass of water after you do a lot of drinking -- you're replenishing the water that your body has lost.

because you are very well hydrated.
