Why don't people consider Guiness a beer?!

Question: Why don't people consider Guiness a beer!?
I'm a bartender and a homebrewer so I know that Guiness is a type of stout, which is an ale, which is a type of beer, but I'll have people who will correct me when I call it a beer!. Where did this theory start!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
The general public doesn't know their *** from their elbows about beer!. I've had the same argument many times before but the stem of it always comes from somebody thinking either Guinness is a totally unique type of drink in and of itself or that stout is somehow alien to all other beer/drink types!. I don't know where it started, I'd just chalk it up to general misinformation!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I thought is was beer!!! lolWww@FoodAQ@Com

i have no idea it is def a beer so there just stupid or something!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

boh!?!?!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

It's a stout beer!. The line between beers and ales was blurred many years ago!. It's like saying 'how would you define a bitter' nowadays!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Maybe they are just being know it alls! If they are saying it is not a beer it is a stout they are just trying to be specific and showing off how "smart" they are!. I personally prefer to call it a pint myself! Cheers!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I call it beer! I don't drink the stout, but the draught instead, so I don't know if that makes a difference!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Guinness isn't beer!.!.!. Not because it isn't a stout, but because it is as badly watered down as a Bud Light!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Who doesn't call it a beer!? and if its not a beer, then what is it!? It is undeniably a Stout, which is a classification of Ale, which is a type of beer hence I agree Guinness is a beer!.

Although I'm not sure I would call it a good beer!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
