Where do you live!? some of the best beers I've had, I've only found abroad!.
As for American beers that I recommend, Miller High Life for a low end beer!. Sierra Nevada Pale Ale is a good one Coors light is an easy beer to drink!. But I like heineken, stella artois, Cobra which you may not be able to find!. I often experiment with various microbrews!. Moosehead is an alright canadian beer!. The best thing I can come up with is find a type of beer you enjoy, such as stout, lager, pale ale, honey ale!.!.!.etc and try various brands!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Alot of liquor stores now allow you to randomly pick assorted bottles of micro brew!. Find a higher end liquor store and see if that works!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
If you live near a Trader Joes or Andersons, you can buy single cans to taste at both of those places!.

That is really hard to answer cause everybody has a different taste!. If you want something really light, Coors light!. That is what I like!. I would suggest trying a different one each time you go out to eat!. you might find something!. Another good quality beer is Red Stripe if you want something a little less cheapWww@FoodAQ@Com
genuine miller is the best i've ever had!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Don't buy a case, buy a six pack or see if they sell singles at the local liquor store!. Usually your best bet is to go to a bar and do your taste testing there!.
I like Sam Adams summer and winter ales as they both have a hint of fruitiness to them!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Try an Aussie beer like Crown lager, or Coopers Pale Ale!.
I'm not sure if you can easily find these in your local bottle shop, but if you do, you should be able to buy a single bottle!.
( 375 mls - metric )
If you want to try a European beer go for something from Belgium!.
Bear in mind that beer is often an acquired taste and for some people it will never taste good !Www@FoodAQ@Com

As a novice drinker, you probably want to start out with something light!. Coors Light is pretty mellow, and I find I always enjoy Michelob Ultra!. You can get those anywhere without spending a fortune!.

one thing thats been helpfull(i am 22, deciding on favorite beers still) learn the beer rating scales, units like IBU and SRM are not at all helpfull if you don't know what they mean!.
what i wish i had done would be start at an end of the scale and work toward the other end, as opposed to just randomly grabbing beers!.!.!.
like for alaskan start with the amber ale, less hops, kinda sweet and not real filling
then lead to a pale ale thats a little more bitter but not any heavier
then remember that the IPAs, stouts and porters are heavier hoppier and darker!.!.!. i like em better!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
