In British, Australian and often Canadian recipes, the Imperial pint is used which is 20 fluid ounces but American and sometimes Canadian recipes use the American pint of 16 fluid ounces.

I thought it was 8 ounces in a pint. You know like the little milk cartons they gave you at school was 8 ounces and I could have swore that they said pint on the side. I could be wrong though but I don't think so. Of course America dosen't go by the same metric system or does it?... I think I should ask a question.
