Were all "saints" really all about all that is good,in the grand scheme of things?
In early times, most wines, brandy, sherry and other spirits were made by monks.

I do see the the monistery connection
Christian Brothers
But that's not saint's
PS bs who cares???
The Catholic Church might ban sex for Nuns & Priest but a good stiff drink is okay. If a drink should be named for them after they reach Sainthood- well, so much for infamy!
I'm not sure if Dom Perignon has been declared a saint, but he should be if he hasn't (JMO).

Back in the day when monks prepared for their week of fasting they weren't allowed to eat but they sure as heck didn't drink water. They were very educated in the ways of spirit, as well as many other fields of research, making including wines, ales and more. In their drive to come up with a high caloric drink to help them through fasting they developed the triple bock beer. Each monestary and each region had different specialties and perfected unique drinks they could also sell to support their church. I always wondered if I spent an entire week drinking nothing but strong ales and eating no food, if I would witness the divine as well. Maybe.
funny question. In England they sell beers in pints and quarts,This goes way back in oldens day England.
the bartender would say to the costamers. if they got out of line would say mind your pints and quarts.
