I've never heard of a grumbler, but I have heard of a growler, which is a half-gallon re-closable jug people use for beer!. See the link for more details!.
Alternatively, there's a "tumbler", which is a glass drinks are served in, typically short-ish and circular!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Since you posted this in Beer, Wine and Spirits I am reasonably sure you mean a "Growler"!.!.!.
A growler has a long history with beer and basically it is a refillable glassware that you buy from a brewery and for a fee they fill it with your choice of their brews!.!.!. Its usually around $20 per fill and the bottles themselves cost about 4-5 dollars!. They vary in size but are usually somewhere around 64 fl!. oz!.
Its not a very common method of getting beer these days as most are bottled and sold in stores, but I still buy growlers from most of the brewpubs I visit!. Hope that helped!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
