Question:

Can you just turn up at AA meetings?

i wanna see what its like to kinda stop myself ever gettin in that situation!

Answers:
Yes anyone is welcomed at an AA meeting

Yes

you have to anounce yourself...." hello i`m dopeman & i like alcohol".....then when the meeting is finished you say "right who fancies a pint ....

uh, duh, its anonymous sweety, they dont care who you are really, you'll make friends but you do no that its more like church than anything else sweety, didn't help me, but yeah you can just sho up

Yes and this applies anywhere in the world. You can just show up and sit in the back. If you are not an alchoholic though, just sit quietly. Visit their website (below) to find a meeting near you.

I actually think its not a bad idea to visit a meeting to get a "scared straight" experience.

Youv i think you can jus find out where the closest one is to you.....

It depends if you're talking about Alcoholics Anonymous or the Automobile Association! Why do they have to have the same initials? Why, why, why?

Wise decision, drop into a meeting a see if you like what you hear...

Yes you can "just" turn up & you will be made to feel welcome by all.

Sure, but to get a full contrast you should first take a walk down your local Skid Row. Then take the next step and go to an AA meeting. Been there, done that. I've also sponsored recovering addicts--drugs and alcohol--they'll be glad for you to sit in to observe. If you do have a problem, email me and I'll find a meeting in your area for you. My main issue was with the use of heavy drugs.

yeah u dont need to call ahead. they can be in the middle of a meeting and u can just walk right in there, interrupt them and say "HI! IM JOHN DOE, AND IM AN ALCHY!" and they will be like"HI JOHN!, WELCOME TO AA!"

I'd love to go but i'm in the RAC

YES I THINK YOU CAN IF THEY WONT LET YOU IN TELL EM YOU LL JOIN THE RAC INSTEAD

Good on you!

One day, you may be able to give insight to somebody who needs it.

There is also Gamblers Anonymous and one for illegal drugs too.

I've been to a couple for the same reason. It was a real eye-opener and I have a lot of respect for those people who shared their personal stories for the benefit of others.

I went to an AA meeting once...........got a good deal for my car !!

yes you can

the last time i was there

1 fella said it was them that needed the help

not him

i left and went down the pub

How do you have time for an AA meeting with all the drinkin that you do

You are welcome at open meetings but not closed ones.

Open meetings may be attended by anyone who is interested.

Closed meetings are reserved for people who have a desire to stop drinking.
