Any liquor store in Germany is a good place to pick up some strong wormwood Absinth!. But the Czech Republic (not Czechoslovakia, The Czech and Slovakia are two independent countries) is Absinth central! Those who still believe wormwood is illegal in the United States are not up to speed, as it is now available for sale!. I purchased a 750 ml bottle of wormwood Absinth (all-be-it not super strong) a couple of weeks ago for about $50!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I think absinthe was banned world-wide a few decades ago DUE to the wormwood!. There are imitations available these days though!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You can buy absinthe legally now in the US!. The best place over seas to get it is in Czechoslovakia!. Mind you real absinthe taste like bark and is very bitter, no matter how much sugar you dissolve!. Enjoy, and drink it slow, it is a creeper!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

In order to comply with European Union (EU) limits, the thujone levels (from wormwood) in commercially distilled absinthe must be10mg/l or less!. The thujone levels in commercially distilled absinthe in Germany must be 30mg/l or less!. So Germany will have what you are looking for!. Absinthe containing thujone levels greater than 10 ppm cannot be sold in the United States because the U!.S!. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) does not allow the sales of spirited beverages that contain the chemical compound thujone!. Because Absinthe is a "prohibited" item it is subject to being seized by the United States Customs Service if you are caught trying to bring it back into the US!.
