Can I cork a beer?!

Question: Can I cork a beer!?
I drink a lot of beer, and I drink a lot of beer that comes in bigger bottles, (22oz, 750mL, etc) Now I'm wondering if I can use the same style rubber cork that you would use on wine if you were not going to finish it right away!. If you don't know, I'm talking about a rubber cork that you can suck all the air out of the bottle and recreate a vacuum after the original seal has been broken!.

I'm not trying to open it and make it last for weeks, maybe just overnight!. I just always feel obligated to finish the bottle once its opened because I don't want the air to ruin it before I can drink it!. I don't really ever have a problem finishing a 22oz bottle or really ever a 750mL bottle, but what if I were to get like a 3L bottle or something like that!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Sadly, no!.!.!. I buddy of mine attempted it!. Even with the cork in place there is still enough room left in the bottle to allow for carbon dioxide to escape and the beer to become oxidized!.

My suggestion!.!.!. stop buying the bombers!. Many!.!.!. admittedly not all!.!.!. are also available in the standard 12oz/355ml bottles!. If your local store doesn't sell them just ask!. If they still won't find a new store with a better selection!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Ha, I know what you mean, I have the same problem!. Unfortunately, a lot of the beer I like to drink is only sold in those 22oz-ers or larger, and the closest store to me that actually has a good selection of 12 oz singles is like an hour away!. Beer will not keep, even with those bottle sealers!. I try to save my bombers for when I have the entire night to relax with the entire bottle, or when I have a friend over that actually appreciates good beer!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
