I give directions to people by the names of pubs?!

Question:

I give directions to people by the names of pubs?

so what's wrong with that.? i.e Down the bottom of this road to...The Rose take your second left by the..George and Dragon then you'll see ... The Red Lion..That's the road you want. Simple.

Answers:
Nowt wrong with that! I usually do the same thing. Pubs are easy to find and their signs are bold and simple. It's a lot easier to give people pub directions rather than say street names or banks and parks! Good on you!

Good for you matey :o)

What ever makes you happy.

I know lots of people who do that - and they're all men :)

Nothing wrong with it really though, one landmark's as good as another.

Apparently pubs are closing down at the rate of 3 a day in the UK, so it may be an idea to diversify your references a little. I like your method though and would enjoy following your directions. Trouble is, I'd be pi**ed when I got there!

i`d do a pub crawl on the way

I do the same, but with Adult Shops............however this is not very good as there is only 2 near me

probably means you spend alot of time in the pub

Starting at the pub called Green Man at the top of Putney hill you continue on Wildcroft Rd. until you get to the Telegraph Pub and the next driveway on the left is our house.

Don't we all ?

Thats not unusual at all.

That's just what I used to do but all the pubs round by us have now been closed down and pulled down.
I keep getting lost myself now!

it's okay as long as they are not moslems.

That works if they don't change the name.

I once told someone to turn left at what used to be the Cross Key (now Scream) and right by the Trocadero (a cinema that burned down 40 years ago). Of course all the locals know these landmarks (even if they aren't there anymore) but it must have been confusing for the poor fellow trying to follow my directions.

The only time I *understand* directions is when they follow the names of pubs..... ;-)
