If you are a medic you are a sucky one.

breathalyzers work by measuring the amount of alcohol secreted in your saliva from your blood. Any alcohol in your system will be detected whether you drink, snort, inhale, shoot, shower in, or plug it.

BAC is generally measured in percent. 0.08 BAC is the same as 0.08 percent of your 'blood' is alcohol (0.08 grams per 100ML blood). The body contains 5600ML of blood. 0.08 BAC is 4.48 grams. A shot of vodka contains 14 grams of alcohol.
5 shots vodka = 70 grams alcohol IV = 1.25 BAC = Dead.

In the ER a special solution of ethanol is often given in IV form to people with methanol poisoning.

You shouldn't copy what's on TV unless you want to be a Darwin award winner. On second thought Mr. Medic, perhaps it's better you go then many of your patients.

I don't know but what a waste.

Bad idea, veins are for blood not vodka.

If it is possible to not die from something like this then I'd think vodka is the only alcohol that you could use. Anything else and you'd probably have a heart attack.

Even still why not just drink the vodka?

i dont think i would do 5 shots. i have done a small syringe full, not a good idea considering all that could have gone wrong. the good news(i guess) is that you can do it but you have to be very careful to make sure you hit the vein and there are no bubbles in the syringe (it helps to have experience administering these types of treatments). besides, you can get wasted without messing around with needles.

Don't know, but sounds very dangerous.

And just because you're a medic, doesn't mean it's ok. Medics can be the most stupid people; take some guys I work with, they were having a party and one of them (who is a medic and cop, teaches at the tactical medics course) decided to show off with some flash bangs, ended up blowing OFF a friend's foot.

Thats reeealllllllyyy not a good idea, you will totally damage your veins. I'd use the saline for the day after the drinking, I know thats what we do!
