Beer enthusiasts vs. Beer ignorance?!

Question: Beer enthusiasts vs!. Beer ignorance!?
I'm noticing more and more the battle lines being drawn between people who drink and enjoy craft beer and those who drink regular, everyday macroproduced beer!.

I decided to just go on beer advocate and look through the beer enthusiasts' reviews on some of these macros!.!.!.

This reviewer gave Corona a perfect score (A+/5!.0)

why don't we call a spade a spade!.!.!.
As South American lagers go this is a fine one!. It is unoffensive in every way!. Extremely thirst-quenching and refreshing, and a pleasant and clean taste!.
What I don't understand is all the player hating going on with this (and similar) beer!. Not every beer out there is trying to be a double IPA, barleywine, tripel, imperial stout, etc!.!.This beer tries to be cerveza at it succeeds admirably!.
And by the way, the whole "lime in your beer" thing started as a way for the bartender to sanitize the lip of a bottle so the drinker didn't get Moctezuma's Revenge!.
Stop trying to bring down a well made beer

The problem with Beer Advocate and any of the websites is that most reviewers are extreme in the respect that they consider a beer garbage unless it has over 13% alcohol, over 100 IBUs, or is aged in some kind of oak barrels!.!.!. preferably more than one!.
On the other hand, most people who swear by macro-beers do so because they have tried few, if any, good quality beers!. That's not saying the macros don't produce quality, because I do respect their ability to make batch 1 taste exactly the same as batch 1 million!.
My guess is this reviewer of Corona works for a Corona wholesaler, the importer, or some other aspect of the business where Corona directly impacts his pocketbook!.
First off, the taste and aroma of Corona is very offensive without the addition of lime!. Everyone knows that clear bottles provide the least amount of protection from UV rays (less than 5%) which is what breaks down hop oils to produce skunky flavors!. It is far from a clean taste!.!.!. unless you consider methyl mercaptan (skunk spray) to be a clean taste!.
Second, there are some wonderful, simple beers out there!. To be honest, I'll (VERY) occasionally drink a Corona, but I can't stomach it without a lime!. Obviously not every beer has to be a double whatever, but Corona the ONLY beer that The Beer Hunter Michael Jackson ever had anything negative to say about!.!.!. and he ALWAYS stressed the positive!.
Third, he is completely wrong about the history of the lime!. Beer is safe to drink in Mexico because the water is boiled, killing off any bacteria that cause Monteczuma's Revenge!. Lime cannot sterilize!. In fact, Mexicans NEVER drink their beer with a lime!.!.!. they laugh at us for doing so!.
The purpose of the lime was dreamt up by the one-time importer, Gambrinus, for two reasons:
1) to give the marketing campaign a more "tropical" feel!.
2) to hide the off-flavors of lightstruck beer!.!.!.
Think about it: if your garbage disposal smells bad, what do you do!? You pour lemon or lime juice or citrus-scented detergent into the drain to mask the odors!. See the connection here!?

And to clarify, I don't consider it a battle between "beer enthusiasts" and "beer ignorant!." Rather, I try at every turn to educate and enlighten fellow drinkers and non-drinkers alike about what they are drinking!. At every opportunity I try to show people that there is more out there than yellow, fizzy, bland water!.
If anything, it's a battle between Beer Advocates and the Macros!.!.!. with the average drinker unfortunately caught in the middle!.

Cheers!.

Very interesting question, by the way!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

First of all, taste is subjective!. Why get worked up over someone liking something you may not!? Really!. I love a good beer and I am open to trying new ones!. Where I live microbrews are very abundant and I'll try anything!.
As to Corona!. I simply LOVE it!. Have for years and years!.
Just because someone prefers Miller Lite and that is their drink of choice and they choose not to try other beers does not make them ignorant!. They drink what they like!. Why is that a bad thing!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'm a beer geek!. I've been known to slam macros from time to time!. But since I've been judging beer styles on how they're supposed to taste according to style, rather than the label!. I find I'm enjoying beers more, and that males me a better Connoisseur!. Err Beer Geek!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

What the sighted reviewer above is missing is that it is a American Pale Lager and when compared to others in the category it is still quite bad!. Take PBR for example!.!.!. My dirty little secret!.!.!. it has more hops and malt flavorings than most macro lagers out there!. Quite good while grilling and excellent for cooking!.

Now, the reviewer does have a point in that not every beer can be an IPA!.!.!. That is precisely why there are IPA, Hefewiezens, Lambics, Stouts, Porters, Barleywines!.!.!.!. You get the idea!. You can't compare a Stout to a Lambic and IPA to a Pale Lager!. The taste, textures and nuances are far to different!. You can compare them in the sense of "Oh, I prefer stouts to IPAs!." or "This stout has so much more flavor than your macro lager!." But for a true judgment of quality you must compare apple to apple!.

PS!. The lime thing is unheard of in Mexico!. It was started in the US to A) Give it a more Latin/foreign feel B) To cover up the nasty flavor!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'm a beer girl!. Well, all alcohol really but for the purpose of this answer!.!.!.

I love Corona, and Tooheys New!.!.!.

Its like people fighting over Holdens and Fords realistically!. Craft beer and Macro beers are the same in molecular structures!. Theres no point debating!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I drink beer almost daily and literally in my home fridge right now are Coors Light and Deschutes Brewing Black Butte Porter!. I love them both!. The "bullets" need no introduction and the porter is one of the smoothest, rich, chocolaty, best drinking beers I've ever had!.!.!.!.but they are totally different animals!. There is no reason to compare them!. Those who do are beer snobs, in my opinion!. Not to mention, the Coors sells for about $!.55 a bottle, the porter at more like $1!.25 so the differences in "quality" fall right in line!. Wine is no different!. Sure, paying $75 for a bottle of Napa Cab is probably going to net you a very, very good wine!. However, is it 10X better than a Cab you bought for $7!.50!? Probably not!.

For the record, I think Corona is crap and much prefer Pacifico for drinking by the bucket, or Negra Modelo or Bohemia with my chile verde or carnitas!. Limes are for tourists!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
