Scotch or whiskey taste?!

Question: Scotch or whiskey taste!?
I'm curious, could anyone here compare the taste of good Scotch whiskey to something else!? Preferably not another whiskey!? :PWww@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Depending on the Scotch, in particular the length of time it is aged and in what type of barrels, you can get numerous differnt flavors!.
I often taste smoke, leather, tar, cereal grains, coffee, raisin/prune, black pepper, tobacco, wood chips, earth, peat, etc!.
It's quite interesting when you sit down and really think about the flavors you are tasting!.!.!. it really allows you to further enjoy whatever it is you are drinking!.

i can't but i used to think jack daniels and jim beam tasted the same as e&j which is a brandy!. other than that it's just an aquired tasteWww@FoodAQ@Com

To me scotch is smoother with a bolder taste!. Whereas whisksy is much rougher and burns more when it is going down!.
That is the best way i can describe it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Warm, smokey, complex mix of flavors, different depending on brand!. A bit of fruit, think very mild but sharp apple, in the background a faint hint of grape!. Tough question- I never attempted to describe it as a simile!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
