How much is bartending school?
I am Planning on going to bartending school..... I know it takes two weeks, but I dont know how much. We live in San Diego.... Do you know of the Best school that is here???????

DONT GO! ITS A HUGE WASTE OF MONEY! Buy a drink book study it and then apply at smaller stores to get experience
I'll have to agree with N323. I learned how to make drinks working behind a bar. Buy a book.

I have been a bartender for 8 years, and when a new person comes in telling us they have a bartenders license, we laugh them out of the building.
Get a book, make friends with your local bartenders, and look at www.miss-charming.com website. Her website is by FAR the best with helping newbies get started.
To answer your question, though, it typically costs $500 and up, depending on where you are.

A friend of mine went to bartending school in Boston when she was downsized. She made a ton of money while laid off working at some high end clubs. I think she paid about $400 in Boston.
Tuition typically run from $395 and up.

Bartending school is a huge waste of money. I learned (after studying the most common drinks) on the job. I started small at a local Moose lodge and then moved on to Hammerjacks in Baltimore (for those that do not know, at the time it was one of the largest nightclubs in Baltimore). I made great money and it was a lot of fun. Just don't forget to save some of the cash!
Because many trendy drinks vary from city to city (and bartenders are always inventing drinks) many of us used an address book to write our recipes in as a reference tool (it keeps them alphabetized).
Some bars and restaurants have a drink list that they require their employees to memorize the recipes for.
