Why did my smirnoff freeze solid after I took it out of the freezer??!


Question: Why did my smirnoff freeze solid after I took it out of the freezer!?!?
I went to the freezer and grabbed a smirnoff, it was not frozen just really cold!! I opened it up and had a few drinks and right before my very eyes it began to freeze!!! why did this happen anyone have a clue!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I presume you mean smirnoff ice which is the carbonated lemon flavour alcopop made by smirnoff!.
The freezing was caused by the release of C02 when you popped the top off your bottle, The C02 was disolved in your drink which was chilled very cold already and the act of releasing the gas from the solution caused it to freeze, I have had the same thing happen to me with sparkling water!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If it was carbonated, the carbon dioxide gas that was disolved in the liquid started to escape and that took some energy with it!. All those bubbles took enough energy out of the liquid to lower the temperature of the drink below its freezing point!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Good question and it has a scientific answer which I cannot recall!. Water that has been standing and no disturbed with usually not freeze!. When the water is moved as in lifting a glass it will freeze!. There are video's on the net showing this happening!. Perhaps you tube or ebaumsworld!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Not much alcohol in the beverage!.!.!.
Alcohol dose not freeze!. IE put A bottle of Vodka
or Whisky in the freezer and see what I mean!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
