Help with wine?!

Question:

Help with wine?

I wanted to start drinking wine for the health benefits but I've never cared for the taste of alcohol. Does anyone know of a good red wine that I could start with.

Answers:
ravenswood zinfandel 04 is good and a little fruity
syrahs are light. Ask the vendor and let him know what you like. Also they say(experts) try white wines first, but if you want red wine for the health benefits here is a ruff list on how types of wines go for easy drinking to more complex taste.

syrah or Shiraz it 's the same thing
tables wines like meritage which is a blend of wine
merlot
zinfandel
and Cabernet there are other types of red's but start with those types.

Most of the health benefits you get from drinking red wine are the antioxidants, and most of these can be found in dark beers as well as in different teas. so drink more tea and you can get some of the same benefits as red wine. Other than that most studies show that a small periodic take of alcohol itself can be beneficial so it doesn't have to be wine at all, any alcohol will do, if you want to stick to wine (these are whites) try semi-sweet rieslings or lighter chardonnays (ask the person at the wine shop, they'll know). There is however some new research that shows that a chemical called Revesterol can be somewhat beneficial for anti-aging properties. This is only found in red wines, and the bigger the red the more revesterol it has, you won't like these wines though, they are big and full of alcohol. If you still want to try drinking some red wine look for lighter body reds, pinot noirs are very nice, easy to drink and not usually overwhelming in alcohol (they make some of the best wines in the world, especially from Oregon or Burgundy). Also look for a Beaujolais, they're considered the bubble gum of the wine world. They're fairly inexpensive, come in 3 different grades (neaveou, villages, and cru), and deffinetly low in alcohol. One last thing to look for when shopping for wine, check on the alcohol content itself, anything over 12.5% is going to be to much for you.

all the above wines are great. you can checked too on your local stores if there are available organic wines. Since you're into health benefit you can try that wine. you can check on the web about organic wine:

I would start off with a light sweet wine such as White Zinfandel or any other pink or blush wine. You can make a spritzer and probably enjoy it while diluting the alcohol taste and still reaping the benefits. Try ginger ale, 7 up or club soda. Red wine has the most health benefits but is also the "strongest" to get used to for your pallete.
