Answers:
Red wine is made from red grapes; 'white' wine is made from 'white' (actually green) grapes!. Red wines have a lot of red coloration from the grape skins, including antioxidants; they also tend to have a higher sugar content which gives them a smoother taste (on average)!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Color is the first and easiest distinguishing feature of wine!. The main difference between red and white wine is that grape juice used to make red wine contains skins, seeds, and stems!. This is significant for the following reason: leaving juice to mix together with the woody bits (known as maceration) causes the finished product to contain tannins!. Tannins can lend a wonderful complexity to a red wine!. As a general rule of thumb, red wines are heavier and more complex than white wines!. White wines are usually a good place for beginners to start because they are initially more palatable to novices since they often tend to be sweeter!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Red wines have tannins from the skins that are used during fermentation!. Some people feel that the red wines are more harsh than the white wines!.

Both have a wide range of flavors and are often blended with different fruits to give even better flavor!. Sometimes reds and whites are blended together to form a whole new creation!. (Usually something VERY tasty!.)

The price ranges for them are pretty much the same!. Don't let price be your indicator of quality, however!. Some of the higher priced wines, are nothing more than vinegar with a fancy label!. Try before you buy, if possible!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It's a matter of the grapes that are used!. Past that, it's hard to make a clear difference when white and red are the factors it hinges on!. You see, you have some red grapes that are going to make really light tasting wines and you have some white grapes that are going to make very flavourful, full bodied wines!. Just to give you some real life examples:

Gamay Noir - it's the main grape in the Beaujolais region of France and it makes such a light tasting wine that most people won't go near it in favour of Cabernets, Merlots, Zinfandel or Shiraz!.
Chardonnay - The big white grape and, even when made without oak, the flavours are so big and pronounced that it can only be viewed as a big tasting wine!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

red wine goes well with meat and white goes best with fish!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
