What makes alcohol - alcohol ?!

Question:

What makes alcohol - alcohol ?

what are the ingredients? I mean wine is made thru the process of fermentation, but i dont get where does the ALCOHOL come from?

Answers:
Alcohol is made by yeast. The process of fermentation is a technical way of saying "yeast eating sugar" and all that goes with that. When the yeast metabolizes sugar, it gives off waste just like you and I give off waste from what's not used from our food. However, instead of what we make as waste, yeast makes ethanol (drinking alcohol) and CO2 (carbon dioxide).

The yeast that ferment the sugar give off alcohol as a waste product of their eating the sugar. They burp carbon dioxide and poop alcohol. Now isn't that special?

Anything with sugar in it. Basically through the fermentation process the water molecules of H2O gain another oxygen molecule, making it H2O2. This one extra molecule is responsible for all the lovely side effect you see. You can make booze out of anything that has a sugar content, basically any type of fruit or grain.

The basic ingredients involved are hops, yeast and water however a variety of others can be added to accentuate different tastes. Fermenting is the breaking down of sugar into alcohol, sugars are made up of Hydrogen, Carbon and Oxygen atoms which undergo a chemical changto become alcohol.

H2O2 is hydrogen peroxide. Ethanol is C2H5OH.
