Atkins and alchohol?!

Question:

Atkins and alchohol?

I was wondering what mixed drinks I can have that have no carbs and or sugar alternatives. I know a dirty martini is safe...but what else can you mix vodka, rum and other liquors with?

Answers:
Hard liquor is distilled and thus contains no carbohydrates. That's all hard liquor -- zero carbs. Just mix with zero-carb mixers -- diet soda is my favorite.

Alchohol is never good when dieting. You need to stick to clear alcohols will have the either no carbs and calories. You are better doing them straight on the rocks and not mixing to keep them at no calories.

huh

All alcohol has carbs. It breaks down to sugar. You can cut the carbs down by drinking clear liquor and diet soda or drink low carb beer, but all alcohol has carbs. I would shy away from Atkins though. Only works short term.

Vodka does have carbs. It's made from potatoes or grain which are loaded with carbs.

Rum - made from sugar cane
Whiskey/ Sotch & Bourbon- Has caramel in it
Gin - Grain
Wine - Grapes

Alchohol itself is full of empty calories.. stay away !
