Many people already mentioned prohibition!.!.!.this, again, would only lead people to produce alcohol illegally where it's production & consumption cannot be monitored!. Being produced legally, there is quality control regulating its ingredients and sales can be monitored so it doesn't get into the hands of minors!.
There is nothing wrong with consuming alcohol in moderation; in fact, having one or two drinks a day has many health benefits (especially good beer, as well as red wine)!.

There are alcoholics that cannot control themselves when it comes to alcohol!. Banning alcohol will not prevent alcoholics from drinking; it will force them to rely on the illegal activity of acquiring & producing bootlegged alcohol that is not regulated and can be very dangerous!.

No, it would never work!. The prohibition already happened and then more illegal activities took place then ever because people were drinking illegally!.

We've tried that once in the U!.S!. already, it was called Prohibition, and didn't work!. (But it did help the Mob and the Kennedys (YES, those Kennedys) make a LOT of illegal money and gain great power)!. Drinking alcohol (ethanol) is just too easy to make, using a cake of yeast and anything with sugar in it (even canned fruit), that it is impossible to ban!.

NO not only is alcohol used in many religious and family traditions, but it just doesn't work!. it's been tried before and didn't work!. there's just going to be a way bigger crime rate and many tavern and liquor store owners are going to loose jobs!.

Ummmm!.!.!.No, then I would have to resort to drugs again!. Alcohol saves people from the worse options!. It is 0k to drink to feel better as long as your not driving or treating anyone bad!. If you tend to drive or treat people wrong, then you just shouldn't drink!. Well, in the US prohibition has such a solid record that, no it shouldn't, unless the government is prepared to offer the mob another elixir for self-medicating (and indoctrinate us into using it)!.
The problem with prohibition is that it turns a licit product illicit overnight with a pen stroke, but erasing demand is not that easy!. I don't think so, as long as it's used in moderation in a safe environment, i think it's fine!. There should however be stricter laws on underaged drinking, there's a reason why the government has these laws, a 15 year old is not responsible enough sober, never mind under the influence!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
