What is used to heat a pot still?!

Question:

What is used to heat a pot still?

coal?
electricity?
gas?

i clearly have no idea

Answers:
Any heating method can be used.

However, most commercial distilleries that use pot stills use either steam or direct flame (mostly natural gas/propane, wood or peat). Electricity is the least efficient, although it can be used...typically with immersion heaters instead of contact (like an electric stove at home).

I clearly have no idea what you mean. I have a gas stove so everything I heat is from gas.

Yes!!
But what are you really trying to ask??

can be any source of heat, traditionally here in the US it was heated with a wood fire, in Scotland it was often a peat fire, the source of heat varies from distillery to distillery.
