Is what I'm doing good for my health / body?!

Question:

Is what I'm doing good for my health / body?

I am 5'3" and 110 pounds. I consider myself to be a heavy drinker of alcohol. In any given week, I have 1 mixed drink made with 3-4 oz of vodka, about 3-5 days a week. This does not get me wasted. I am still functional, I just enjoy having a drink after work sometimes. If I drink on the weekend, I usually max out at 2 mixed drinks. I know that I have a very high tolerance for any type of alcoholic beverage.

I also drink more than a gallon of water during the day. I know the benefits of drinking water and now I actually have a "craving" for water, and I'm not going to the bathroom every 5 mintues. It took me about 1 week until the craving started and the bathroom stopped. I've been drinking this much water for about 2 years now.

I would like to know if what I'm doing (as fas as the excessive liquor) is really hurting me, or does the water counter that? I'm very healthy, enjoy exercising, and eat well.

A physicians opinion would be very helpful. (If you're out there.)

I'm not a physician...but here's my opinion:

Alcohol is poison to your body. That's why it has the loopy effect. Dehydration should be the least of your concerns. Alcohol is horrible for your liver. You are filtering poison through your liver 3-5 times per week and your liver is working hard to process it. You won't feel the effects of what your doing for years to come. Don't make it a habit to have more than 1 night of drinking a week. Perhaps you could go a week without drinking, let the water therapy flush out the toxins...it could be really good for your liver. Then allow yourself 1 night of drinking a week.

The water your drinking is fabulous...keep that up!

Stay Healthy!! :-)

Your biggest problem would be a little dehydration, but all the water you drink would cancel that out.

A few drinks a week doesn't hurt you unless you have a medical condition. You should be just fine :D
