How come vodka doesnt freeze?!

Question: How come vodka doesnt freeze!?
Answers:
Pure 100% ethanol (which is the proper name for the drinkable alcohol in your Vodka) freezes at -114 °C (-173 F)

Vodka will freeze somewhere between -114 °C and 0 °C depending on the alcohol content!. (-173F and 32F)

There are many other kinds of alcohol (such as methanol, rubbing alcohol or isopropanol, butanol, and many others) and each one has a different freezing point!.

Water freezes at 0 °C (32F)!. Your home Fridge/freezers will go down to -15 °C (5F)!. This is why Vodka won't freeze in your freezer!.

But other alcoholic beverage, like beer, are not pure ethanol, but instead a mixture of water and ethanol (and other trace substances)!. The freezing point of the mixture depends on how much of each component is in it!.

Something with only 1% ethanol will freeze just a little below 0 °C (32F), whereas something with 95% ethanol will freeze pretty close to -114 °C (-173F)

How much ethanol is in a particular alcoholic beverage is listed on the bottle, either as a percentage or as a "proof" which is just 2 times the percentage (100 proof = 50% ethanol)!.

Be creative, and dilute your favorite vodka (anything but Absolut! I'm American) with fruit juices and other water based flavoring!. Place your new "Juiced" down vodka in the freezer, the more mix, the harder it will freeze!. Although anything passed the point of slush would be counterproductive to your "buzz"!.!.!.

So enjoy your new Voksicles!Www@FoodAQ@Com

It won't freeze on its own but if you make up the following and keep it in the freezer it will somewhat freeze into a slush!. Put a good size scoop into a short glass and top with ginger ale or sprite!. It's fantastic and I always have a batch mixed up in the freezer

26er of Vodka or Alcool
2 cups pineapple juice
12 oz tin frozen orange juice
12 oz tin pink lemonade
7 cups water
1/2 cup sugar
GrenadineWww@FoodAQ@Com

Well, because of the high alcohol content!. Since vodka is like 40% or higher!.

I don't know if you wanted the scientific reason because I don't know it!. Beer will freeze though, but if its in a glass bottle it will explode in the freezer!. Beer tends to have from 3!.5 to 6% alcohol content!. I don't think wine freezers, which tends to have from 10 to 15%!.!.!.and light spirits don't freeze!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Vodka has a high alcohol content!. And the ethanol alcohol in the vodka has a very low freezing point!. It's -114 °C!.

You could technically do it, it would just take LOTS of energy I suppose :PWww@FoodAQ@Com

Why is it that everyone thinks there's something mystical about vodka!? 2 alcohols/ 3 waters = 80 proof vodka!. It'll freeze at the same temp as anything else that's 40% alcohol!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

but it does freeze, but at much lower temperatures, because of the alcohol in it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

As others have said, it does freeze - just not at a temperature you are likely to invoke in order to do so!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

dont know, maybe its the alcohol doing itWww@FoodAQ@Com
