I'm writing a story and need to know all the things a bartender does.?!
The closest thing I've had to "bartending" is being a barista!. Besides drink specials/orders, I need to know the typical things they have to do when opening/closing, and anything that should be incorporated!. I want it to be as authentic as possible!. Thanks for all the help in advance!!Www@FoodAQ@Com
Answers:
Unlock the door, turn off the alarm!. Set up the bar from the night before, hoping the closer left you in good shape!. Turn all the machines, signs, TV's, music, and what have you on!.
Get the money from the safe, and set up the register!. Check for notes of problems or broken things needing to be addressed!. Deal with vendors as needed!. Check inventory, juices, garnishes, napkins!.!.!.!.!.set up food area, being sure all is fresh and ready!. People gotta eat (esp!. when drinking:)
Check all deliveries for accuracy!. Change kegs as needed!.
Keep a CLEAN bar!. This takes constant effort!.
FOR CLOSING: be sure to give last call!. You should have a pretty good idea how this will go, according to your patrons!.
DON'T get fooled by time changes!. I never did, but they sure tried!. I had to count and balance my drawer after every shift, check the bathrooms for stragglers or ill meaning people (I found someone BEHIND a door once, thinking I wouldn't have noticed him!. Gratefully, I did!. Who knows what would/could have happened!?!?! Get the police ONLY when you HAVE to!. Leave the place the way you would like to find it in the am!. Gather your things, set the alarm, and take your exit!.!.!.
I hope this helps you!.!.!.
