they used to be ,but the cuban tobacco is nowhere the quality of that of years gone by dominicans of nicaraguans are superior to the now defunct cubans except for the havana cohiba ,the Cohiba Esplendito Dictatore ,a 52 ring by 13!.75" smoke used to be made for Fidel til he quit smoking ,in the usa they would cost around $50 to 65 a piece ,if you could even get them ,but you can not !.stick with the dominicans or nicaraguans or hondurans ,all good ,allaffordable ,and all legal --my fave is the Arturo Fuente Flor Fina 8-5-8 in the maduro wrapper 48 ring 6 3/4 " long ,a good daily smoke for about 4buck a pc !.Www@FoodAQ@Com
That isn't really the case anymore!. After Castro came into power, many of the traditional cigar wrappers and farmers fled to the Dominican Republic and brought with them their skill and the right plants!. As of now, they are both on par (depending on the brand!.) Some are better than others!. I've had some really bad ones from D!.R!. and Cuba, it really depends on what you get!.

I live on the Canadian border and have smuggled them in occasionally!. Some cost $5, some cost $35!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.Totally a bunch of hype!.!.I quit doing it because it's a bunch of crud!. A waste of money!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.Stick with a good cigar store and you can usually trust the guy that works there!.

I think the Dominican's are about the same!. The tobacco and production methods come from Cuba!. It gets down to which cigar you like and not so much Cuban or Dominican!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
