What are the short and long term effects of drinking alcohol?
Answers:
Weight Gain, Loss of Money, Damage of the Liver
long term DEATH
Well judging from my old man (long term boozer) I would say memory loss, short and long term. Also no control over temper, the alcohol effects the part of your brain that regulates anger. Physically of course they're is liver and kidney damage, brain damage, stomach damage and esophagial damage. BUT THIS IS ALL WITH HEAVY CONSUMPTION MIND YOU
Depends entirely on how much you're drinking and whether you have an innate predisposition to alcoholosm.
If you are an alcoholic, one drink sets you off on a slide and you don't stop drinking until you're blotto.
If you're not alcoholic, then one or two drinks will lower your blood pressure, thin your blood, and help balance your blood glucose, all of which are good things. Moderate drinkers live longer.
If you abuse alcohol, the short-term effects, of course, are loss of judgment and inhibition, followed by loss of muscle control and blurred vision, followed by unconsciousness. Vomiting may also occur, and if it happens while unconscious you face a significant risk of choking to death. With very rapid consumption comes alcohol poisoning, which also can kill you.
The next short-term effect of abuse is the morning-after hangover, depending on what you were drinking and whether you're predisposed to them.
If you abuse alcohol, creates "fatty liver", a condition where your liver becomes speckled with fat. It takes about two weeks of no drinking to get over fatty liver, and if you don't, it's thought to lead to cirrhosis and liver failure.
Heavy drinking can also lead to stomach and intestinal disorders. Then there are ancillary illnesses that come from poor nutrition if you're too drunk to eat properly, and damage to esophagus and teeth if you upchuck too often.
The social effects of alcohol abuse are also worth mentioning; loss of employment, harm to relationships and the others in them, potential for arrest and conviction on a range of charges DUI through public intoxication, loss of personal wealth due to costs of beverages and ancillary expenses.
I think that about covers it.
1st. you take the drink
2nd you take a bit more than before
3rd the drink takes you
4th you are stuck with it and you can't run away from it
5th you become alcoholic and die of liver problem
