At a bar, beer or a cocktail?!
i personally don't like beer, and order only mix drinks!.

PS!. Anyone who says they don't like beer has never had a real beer!. Miller, Bud, Coors, Corona, Heineken!.!.!. Those aren't beer!. Those are swill!.

I recommend starting off with a white ale!.!.!. Something like a Hoegaarden, Ommegang Witte or Allagash White!. All there are widely distributed in the US!. Unibroue Ephemere Apple or Le Fin Du Mon aren't as easily found but aren't difficult either!. Personally, I love Lindeman's Kriek Lambic!.!.!. A sour ale brewed with fresh cherries!.!.!. there is also raspberry, apple, peach and black currant!.
After that there are many different routes you can take!. My suggestion would be go Belgian or American craft!.!.!. Generally you can't go wrong with either!. I don't usually recommend German or Czech!.!.!. Not because the beer isn't good but because it is usually just more of the same old lager that you've grown to dislike!. Hefewiezen is a different story!.!.!. A German Wheat beer!.
From Belgium try:

pretty much only beer, there are so many different styles and kinds of beer, it is really quite an amazing thing!. I drink different beers for different occassions, and I am not biased against the big brewers!. But, if I do drink a light beer, it is Miller Lite only!. I definitely delve into wheat, amber, stout, porters, etc!. It all depends on my mood!. I have tried hundreds of different brands of beer and I do not get sick of trying new things!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Definitely cocktails!. But if you find yourself at a "beer" bar (as I have quite often), I find it best to order something for which the bar will have all the ingredients (no mojitos) and that the bartender can't mess up (again no mojitos)!.

Defintiely cocktails!. Beer is overrated and not that great!. It doesnt matter that its cheaper!. No frozen drinks and LITs are for beginners!. I love Buffalo Trace, vodka and energy drinks if its going to be a long night, Milagro tequila, a good spicy bloody Mary!Www@FoodAQ@Com
Not all beer tastes the same, but regardless, I've switched to it when I go to bars because I like Maker's on the rocks too much!. It starts to taste like a refreshing iced tea!. That goes down quick! The carbonation in beer will slow you down if you need to be!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
If there's good beer available, which unfortunately is rare at most bars around me, I usually order gin or bourbon cocktails!. Gin Rickey, Gimlet, Manhattan or Old Fashioned!. I drink like an old man, haha!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
