What wine would you serve with dolphin?!

Question:

What wine would you serve with dolphin?

I ask because a fisherman friend of mine occasionally gets lucky with his nets, and as a big seafood and wine fan, I am looking forward to his next "catch" as it is a fish that I have long had an appetite for, just for the novelty really. I'm thinking a decent Chilean Sauvignon Blanc?

Sorry, of course I should have put "mammal", not "fish". My mistake.

Well, I must say, I am amazed by the vitriol I have recieved for posting a simple question! Yes, so it's a mammal, and? I'm just asking advice on the accompanying wine. I don't understand why some people are getting so worked up.

As for "oldgit", you talk about brain size and then cannot even spell "********" correctly. How can I possibly take you seriously?

Right, let's settle something here. Dolphins are not "intelligent". If I walk into my local and find one there drinking Guinness and finishing The Times crossword, maybe I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. I tell you, not one of THEM has responded to this question. Also, no I don't fancy eating a chimp, and we are not closely related to dolphins. Finally, this would be a dolphin that had managed to get itself caught in a net, despite "sonar" ability, RAZOR sharp teeth, and, according to some of you, massive intelligence. I tell you, many respondents will not be recieving an invite to the barbeque.

a bottle of cappuvino its wine with coffee flavouring 10%

sicko

It's not a fish.

It's a mammal.

Don't make me puke.

dunno, but i know what implement id hit a d*ckhead like you with

your blood once you dead sicko

A good full bodied red,

I am a vegetarian, but I am sure you are asking about the fish variety of dolphin, not the mammal version. If i'm correct, you should clarify. Its still yucky though, either way.

idiot

Personally, I can't stomach the thought of eating dolphin - I grew up watching "Flipper", but with most fish I like to serve a sunset blush or white zin......Wine is the only thing I drink.

i would probably serve a nice white wine. maybe a chardonnay. or a reisling.
enjoy!

probably the same as you would serve with "long pig" think about it

Dump the fish/mammal or whatever. Stick to decent fish dishes and grab a bottle of Torres who does some special Chilean Wines - alternatively his Vina Sol or Esmeralda from Spain - just keep the fish simple - and certainly no Dolphin cos if u do Ill get the pet detective aka Jim Carrie onto you

That's sick.

As many have said before you are sick, a dolphin is a mammal.
I hope you are joking!!
Next you'll be saying you eat cows, sheep and pigs!!

Why would you want to eat something with a bigger brain than you? Sorry ,dcikhead, just remembered primitive people used to eat their enemies to inherit their strength.

Seriously, Why didn't you go & troll around the
pubs tonight? You could be a "saloon bar special"

Update!

Well lloydway, I don't give a fcuk ( I can't spell that either, but a least Yahoo print it. Get it, dcikhead?) that you don't take me seriously. I'd be worried if you did; might mean we had something in common!

A Shiraz or Merlot should complement this meat well.

I agree there is no luck in catching a dolphin and eating it. Try dolphin the fish instead and try the same wine. Really would you eat a chimp? I think there is natural respect for similar species or at least species with similar or higher IQs. Bad mojo to you if you eat the dolphin.

sicko you are discusting

Dolphin (being a mammal and not a fish as we now know) has a much deeper tasting and darker flesh and so a sauvignon blanc with it's zesty green freshness would not really work.
With the musky smokey flesh you find on your average bottlenose (I would advise barbeque-ing) I would advise a pinot noir.
Burgundy is always a good bet with Pinot noirs, but can be a little costly, but then again the french do tend to draw out the more smokey characteristics in the grape, so it might be worth the extra money.
The kiwis are making some excellent wines from pinot, especially in Central Otago, but they tend to be a little more fruity, but you can find some good savoury examples for not too much money.
Finally, the Chileans make some great, easy drinking cheap and cheerful pinots, but again, mabbe a little lacking in the spicy flavours you may need with such a savoury flesh.

Good luck, and happy hunting.

Wow, simple question!!!! and the flak!

Yeah, I'm veggie- but I've tried Mahi Mahi, and if the tastes are similar, were you thinking Stowells Chilean? Too dry, i reckon. Maybe if you going for white wine, try Jacobs Creek Chardonnay.. quite dry, but the body is good. If you prefer soemthing sweeter, go for Gallo Grenache, Rosé. It's a medium sweet, and also goes well with dessert!

Enjoy your meal!

Let's say your fisherman pal, has line caught the dolphin in a sustainable way, although I disagree 100%, the best option would probably be a white Rhone wine as they tend to be more complex and therefore better all round for an oily fish (assuming it is). As you may never taste dolphin again splash the cash and invest in a white Chateau Neuf de Papes.

Wrong question and place if you want suggestions, you probably should withdraw the question, unless you want to get harassed.

I dunno. Lemme ask my dolphin; I'll get back to you on that.

I don't know. I prefer human flesh. It's less risque!

People are only being so horrible because its an animal well known and loved for it's intelligence.

I would personally prefer chargrilling on a barbecue like someone else has suggested and accompany with a cold beer.

You know that is a god question. I would probably go with the white wine.
I would like to add that there are a lot of sniveling babies that answered your question.

Cows are mammals. So are Goats and chickens. Not to mention pork as well. I guess that makes me a mammal eater. Toooooooooo Badddddddddd. but not for me.

now give me my 2 points.

I would think a really rough Bulgarian, can I come to the barbeque?

I think that with your ma-hi ma-hi (not flipper, not the mammal,) it would depend on how you are preparing the fish. You would want to make sure the wine would compliment the meal not overpower it, so if you are going bold with your preparation, go bold with the wine, if buttery then something to cut the butter, etc.

no that's nasty, would you eat a person that fell in, with the intelligence we've apparently got??

You are kidding, right? Why would anyone want to eat such a beautiful creature? YUK! I won't come to your house for dinner!
