Answers:
You don't need a license but very few bars will hire you to be a bartender right out of the gate!. In my area you have to be a bar back first!. You wash glasses, run for new bottles, and keep ice/fruit stocked!. On slower nights they teach you how to work the bar!. You get a cut of the tips (about ten percent), and after a few months of busting your butt you'll be bartending and getting a full share of the tips (and that can be anywhere from 60 to a 400 bucks a night)Www@FoodAQ@Com

Depends on the jurisdiction!. In the US and Europe there is no government licensing requirements that I know of, just minimum age requirements!.

So, you've sort of answered your own question!. The bars want someone who's great at making drinks!. ;)

Get a good bartending guide and find out what mixed drinks are popular in the area you want to work in!. That's what the owner will be most interested in!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

In California, I don't believe you have to have a license!. However, I know that quite a few places will hire you if you have experience, or seem to know what you're doing!. also, it would help, if while you are working, to get your license!. You can also get that one that a lot of places look for!. I forget what it's called, but it's a training course on how to coax people into not drinking anymore, especially if you see that they are already going downhill!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

you don't need a license!. but experience is what they will want!. and what the bartending schools teach you is how to make the drinks!. I do believe you need to be 21!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
