How much icing is needed to ice a sheet cake?!

Question:

How much icing is needed to ice a sheet cake?

I need to ice a sheet cake and don't know how many of the icing containers I will need. I know that I need to put down a crumb layer and then re-ice. So, is it a container per icing or more? Thanks!

Answers:
1 icing container will do a 9X13, but since a full sheet cake serves 96, and is the equivalent to twice the size of a 9x13 and since you also have to allow for enough to frost the sides.... play it safe and get 3 (6-8 cups of prepared frosting).... you can always eat the rest on graham crackers! YUM!!!

It depends on the size of your sheet cake!!!

I take it that the sheet cake is a 13x9..I would use 2 tubs of icing to give the top and sides real good coverage...It is better to have more than you need.

two tub will be sufficient. sounds yummmy .
