Complain to the brewery the pub belongs too or complain to the local Environmental Health Officer!. I have a feeling or he's either not cleaning his pipes or that he's cleaning them but not rinsing them properly!. In any case very dangerous!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
He doesn`t clean the lines often enough, we do ours once a week, it wastes about 60pints of beer, some landlords don`t do it just to save beer but it eventually tastes bad so people stop going in the pub, the cleaning fluid has to be measured and it has to be pulled through the lines until clear water is coming through you can tell this by testing it with your fingers, the line cleaner has a slimy feel to it!. If he doesn`t start looking after his beer then just drink bottlesWww@FoodAQ@Com
does the landlord ever leave the bar for a pee!?
aha!!?
Sound like they are not flushing the pipes out after cleaning them, an offence as far as health and saftey are concerned! Warn them you will call the white coats in!
I would stick to bottled beer from now on!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The next time you get some that tastes bad, take it to the local health service and have it tested!. It's probably a bacterial growth in the lines from the kegs!. I'd bet that only one line is infested since you say that it is OK sometimes!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
If you`re a lager drinker, the odds are the problems with the line cleaning!. If it`s affecting the real ales (bitter), it could also be that he`s buying stock that`s near or past it`s sell by date!. Sounds a bit like your landlord too!Www@FoodAQ@Com
Poor cellarwork! Whoever is cleaning them is either not doing them often enough or correctly!. As other posters suggest switch to bottled beer or spirits!. Watch for tapped (post mix) mixers could be as bad!!!!Www@FoodAQ@Com
I don't think they are cleaning the pumps out as often as they should, then when they do, they are clearly using a detergent that is either wrong or they are not ensuring it is rinsed away!.
Sloppy landlord I say!!

Beer is the world's oldest[1] and most popular[2][3] alcoholic beverage!. Some of the earliest known writings refer to the production and distribution of beer!.[citation needed] It is produced by the fermentation of sugars derived from starch-based material — the most common being malted barley; however, wheat, corn, and rice are also widely used, usually in conjunction with barley!.
The starch source is steeped in water!. Enzymes in the malt break down the starch molecules, producing a sugary liquid known as wort, which is then flavoured with hops, which acts as a natural preservative!. Other ingredients such as herbs or fruit may be added!. Yeast is then used to cause fermentation, which produces alcohol and other waste products from anaerobic respiration of the yeast as it consumes the sugars!. The process of beer production is called brewing!.
Beer uses many varying ingredients, production methods and traditions!. Different types of yeast and production methods may be used to classify beer as ale, lager or spontaneously fermented beer!. Some beer writers and organisations differentiate and categorise beers by various factors into beer styles!. Alcoholic beverages fermented from non-starch sources such as grape juice (wine) or honey (mead), as well as distilled beverages, are not classified as beer!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
