"There are no known pathogens (toxic micro-organisms) that can survive in beer (or wine)!." Any of the contamination that you are working on avoiding with your sanitation are things that would produce off flavors!. The homemade wine will be safe!. Whether it will taste good is another matter!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The worst thing that can happen from a contamination, is that you vomit, because it tastes so horribly bad!. Like said above, there are no known pathogens that survive in beer and wine!. A severe contamination will make it taste so bad, that you probably won't even be able to force yourself to drink it without vomiting!. Just laying the stopper down on the lab table probably won't cause a contamination, so everything should be fine!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You should be fine!. The biggest danger is to the wine from aceter bacteria!. Even if it does get that infection it isn't really harmful to you!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
