Chianti, what temp do you serve it?!

Room temp or chilled!. I have a bottle of Villa Vitale Chianti and I'd like to crack it open today!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
when wine temp is referred to as "room temp" they mean room temp before central heating was invented, so the first poster is closest, you need it in the low-mid 60s!. if your house is hotter than that you can chill it in an ice water bath (bucket with ice and water) for about 15 minutes to get it to right temp!.

if you splurge on a wine accessories kit (if you decide to become obsessive about these things) they often come with a thermometer to check the wine!. it really won't matter if it comes out as 66 or 67 ("OMG, her wine was one degree off! that dinner party sucked!") but you'll want to avoid too hot or too cold!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Chianti (like most dry red wines) should be served at room temperature!. Just leaving it in a cool cupboard (like the same place you would keep potatoes) on it's side would be fine until you are ready to open it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

As with all red wines, Chianti should be served close to room temperature!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Cellar Temperature, Around 58 degrees!.!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
