Need opinions from Absinthe drinkers!!!!!?!
If you drink absinthe or "refined absinthe" let me know what you think of the stuff!. There is so much misinformation and myths going around and I just would like some opinions on how you like it, its effects, and is there a noticable difference between "real" absinthe or the legal "refined" absinthe that some places offer!. I have never tried it before but I am getting the itch to give it a try!. I am looking around online sites and there are so many choices, what are your preferences as far as brand and strength!? Thanks in advance for any feedback anyone can give me!!!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

You can buy absinthe online, but from the stuff you can get legally you don't trip or hallucinate; you just get reallllllly drunk! Apparently there's not enough wormwood in the legal bottles in most countries as compared to the original!. If you go to Amsterdam they have absinthe bars with menus, really neat and highly recommendedWww@FoodAQ@Com
There is one with high wormwood content called Century Absinthe with 100mg of thujone!. Very tasty, but quite rare and expensive!.
The effect isn't hallucinations more an alert feeling and a kind of heightened level of perception!. In a 2000 study by UC Berkeley researchers Karin Hold, Nilantha Sirisoma, Tomoko Ikeda, Toshio Narahashi and John Casida, it was discovered that thujone affects a brain receptor that regulates excitation, proving that absinthe has calculable effects on the brain!. According to the same Berkeley study, current low levels of thujone in most modern absinthes are of much less effect than the ethanol content!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

There is a tremendous amount of hype and nonsense about absinthe!.
No one ever got 'high' through drinking absinthe!. Drunk, yes, but high no!.
If getting high is your reason for drinking absinthe then you are wasting your money!.
It is a pleasant drink with a long history!. The 'legalized' versions in the USA are as much just another version of pastis!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I had several shots of real absinthe at a club in Switzerland a year ago and didn't hallucinate at all!. I just got extremely drunk and had a good time!.
It's very expensive though so if you're buying it because you want to see a green fairy then I'd advice you not to waste your money!. Jagermeister + Goldschlager does the trick for me at a fraction of the price!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The original had high concentrations of wormwood used in the making and allowed people to take a trip and never leave the house!. Your not gonna legally get the same original high!.
