Why are sweets called wine gums when there is no wine in them.?!


Question: Why are sweets called wine gums when there is no wine in them!.!?
And how long before Brussels spots this one and others such as acid drops that in fact contain no acid!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Wine gums contain no wine!. The name comes from the lingering, subtle fruit flavours that make it "similar to the experience of savouring a fine wine"!. In reference to this, the sweets having the names of alcoholic drinks on them, for example port, gin, rum and hockWww@FoodAQ@Com

i thought the origional wine gums actually resembled the flavour of different drinks, and had the name of them in raised gum,

they cheat by embossing the names of wines on the sweets!.
