A friend gave me some wine she was going to throw away. She said she didn't want it because somebody had?!

Question: A friend gave me some wine she was going to throw away!. She said she didn't want it because somebody had!?
stored it upright instead of on its side!. She said the corks would be dried out and the wine ruined!. So I took a few bottles off her hands!. Now I could see where standing upright would be a problem if this stuff was fifty years old but it's no more than three year or four years old!. I've seen wine standing upright in grocery stores and people still seem willing to buy it!. What's the story!? Do I have four bottles of toxic waste that I might as well not even bother to open or should I give it a try!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Give it a try! If the cork comes out of the bottle way too easily, or if the cork is totally wine stained (top to bottom) or looks like it's covered with moss, the wine is probably corked and won't be drinkable (it'll taste like vinegar)!. If the cork seems OK, take a sample sip!. If it tastes OK to you, enjoy!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Drank it!. Enjoyed it!. Lived to tell you about it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
