Question: My champagne glasses were used by somebody at a party, and now when I pour champagne there are no bubbles!.!?
How do I fix this problem!? I don't know if they poured something in them that makes them not produce bubbles or not!. And it can't be the champagne because it was Veuve Cliquot, also I poured some of the champagne itno a different glass and the bubbles were there!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
The most likely reason is that there is some washing up liquid remaining in the glass!. But - conversely - it maybe that the glass is too clean!!

Bubbles come out of solution at a point where there is some dust, dirt, impurity or scratch on the glass!.

If you have a diamond ring, try making a very small scratch down at the bottom of each glass and you should have no problems with bubbles :)

Try getting some steriliser (the type sold for cleaning baby bottles) and washing your glassware in that!. Guaranteed to remove any 'residue' you may have on your glasses!. Make sure you rinse your glasses thoroughly in clean, cold water afterwards though!. Any 'grease', such as lipstick or oils from fried foods, can cause 'fizzy' drinks to appear 'flat'!. So thoroughly cleaning your glassware could solve your problem!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The glasses were probably washed in a dishwasher with too much JetDry or other sheeting agent!. JetDry is made to break the surface tension on the glass so the water slides off!. That would also prevent bubbles from forming on the glasses!. Hand wash them with a good dish soap (such as Dawn) and rinse them thoroughly in very hot water , then polish dry with a soft cloth and I think your bubbles will re-appear!.

might have been a dairy product, perhaps milk!.!.!.I've heard it can't be repaired but i would try a dash of baking soda and some white vinegar!.!.!.do it in the sink and don't freak if you've never seen the two reactWww@FoodAQ@Com
