How can u tell a good wine? is it the bigger the dent in the bottle the better the wine or is that a myth?!

Question: How can u tell a good wine!? is it the bigger the dent in the bottle the better the wine or is that a myth!?
Answers:
There is no real answer to this, except to say that the indent story is a myth!. Indents are there to catch sediment, and in the case of sparkling wine to stop the bottles exploding outwards (only the end pops out) and sparking a chain reaction during the second fermentation!.

To tell a good wine you need practice and to follow you own tastes!. Try different types of wine, but focus on one grape variety for say a month, then move on!. By doing this you'll develop an understanding of what you like and how different varieties can be expressed according to country and style!.

The best thing about wine is that it is a personal choice, but after a while you'll understand what bad wine is and broaden your tastes for good wine!.

The dent is a myth, so what is a good wine!? Wine "Experts" will say it is a combination of the grapes, the vines, the soil, the weather, the skill of the winemaker, and that's all fine and academic, but at the end of the day it is what it tastes like TO YOU!. If you find a wine you like, note down what it is, and try similar wines!. Then let your own taste buds decide for you!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The dent in the bottom of the bottle means it comes from abroad!. i!.e!. foreign wine!. The same goes for any imported drinks!. Don't know why tho' - There is book which tells you which wines had a good year, also the champagnes!. But if you don't like the wine there is no point in spending £s finding out!. The old favourites are good but some are stronger than others!. Blue Nun is OK!. My favs!. are my home made ones!!!!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

i think the idea of the dent on the bottom of the bottle was originally to collect any sediment or impurities in the wine it also gave the glass more strength as the quality of the glass used was not very good so i think that its a myth anyway after the second bottle who caresWww@FoodAQ@Com

Very much a myth!. The dents can be used for both aging and storage (space saving)!.

I have tried wines with deep indents and are utter guff!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You need to taste it to see if it's any good!. No other way!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
