there only one way to find out my friend!. if the first sip taste ok, then any bet the second will be even better!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
First off, wine doesn't have an expiry date!. I would expect that if it had the year 2003 on the box, it would be the year the wine was made and not an expiry date!.
Boxed wine, however, does not have a long shelf life and it is possible that it will not hold up after 5 years!. Having said that, though, the only way to know for absolute certain would be to actually open it up and try it!. The worst it could be is that it will taste vinegary from oxidization!. If it has oxidized, you won't get sick from it or anything because you won't be able to drink enough to get sick from it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

wine doesn't expire! not opened it gets better with age, when kept in proper temperature it will just age!.!.!. ever wonder why older wine is more expensive, it is more desired! maybe your wine was made in 2003, was that the year on the front of the label!?
Now if a bottle of wine was opened and let sit for a long time it will just taste bad but shouldn't get you sick or anything!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Truth is nobody really knows!.!.!. except those who've tried it!. It is true that many wines age well, but it is also true that many cheaply made wines I designed to be consumed fresh!.!.!. err!.!.!. within a couple months of reaching the store shelf!.
What you need to do is open it!. Pour it!. Smell it and then sip it!. There isn't anything in it that can harm you even if it has gone off!. It will just taste bad and you can dump the rest down the drain!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
