Can someone recommend me a good medium price red wine?!
I am a big fan of Rioja and Pinot Noir and would like to treat myself to a really good bottle (for a celebration)!. I like wines with vanilla tones!. Can anyone recommend me something!? It doesn't have to be vintage and I don't really want to spend more than £50 (100$)!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Not trying to be a wine snob, but Rioja is wine region, not type of wine!. Tempranillo is the predominant red grape that is grown in that region, so maybe thats the grape you mean!?
If you like Spanish wines, there is a fabulous red called Can Blau that comes from Monsant!. It's just west of Priorat, in Catalunya) which is very well known for some very expensive wines!. Monsant has basically the same climate and soil, but because it's not was well known as Priorat, the wine are much more affordable!.

"The 2005 Mas de Can Blau is a blend of 35% Carinena, 35% Syrah, and 30% Garnacha with the Garnacha and Carinena ranging in age from 65-85 years!. Malolactic fermentation occurred in barrel and the wine was aged in new French oak for 20 months before being bottled unfiltered!. Purple-colored, it reveals a complex, sophisticated perfume of toast, slate, smoke, espresso, black cherry, and blueberry!. This leads to a wine with a full-bodied personality, layers of flavor, gobs of fruit, and a pure, lengthy finish!. It will be at its best between 2013 and 2025!."

I pasted a link to a UK website that sells another Monsant wine called Planella!. I haven't tried, it, but the wine guy where I work said it's comparable to Can Blau, but reading the tasting notes, it looks like it might be a bit bigger with heavy tannins!. I like a more balanced wine, which is why I like Can Blau!.
It don't think either will be terribly expensive!. The La Planella on the site below is only about 10 British pounds!. We sell it on our (restaurant) wine list here for about $45!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
