What causes residue on crystal after red wine?!

Question: What causes residue on crystal after red wine!?
The latest vint of my favorite red is leaving an unsightly residue on my crystal!.
The flavor doesn't seem affected, and I'm not doing anything different to clean the glass ware!. Is this a problem with the vint, or just an annoyance!?
Thank you in advance!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Just an annoyance!. It's probably sediment from winemaking or aging!. There are several reasons for sediment, including:
1) Age!. As wines age they create sediment as minute particles attach together to become large enough to fall to the bottom!. In heavy reds, this happens quicker!.
2) The process itself!. Most wines are fined and filtered to remove unsightly sediment and create a more commercially friendly wine!. Foregoing this process is becoming more popular as the generally winemaking tastes have become more demanding of heavier wines!.
3) Tartrate crystals!. While easier to identify in whites, they can form in reds as well!.

If the problem is that the glassware isn't getting cleaned properly, then simply wash by hand!. Residential dishwashers don't always get all of the sediment, especially if the wine is left to dry and cake before getting cleaned!.

As long as the wine tastes okay, there is nothing to worry about!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
