Old bottle of sake?!

Question: Old bottle of sake!?
My parents got a bottle of sake 23 years ago for their anniversary but its still unopened!. My brother is turning 21 tomorrow and we had always said that we would drink it on his 21st birthday!. My question is: Is it still good!? Will it kill us or just get us all crazy *** drunk!? Should we drink it!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Sure!.!. taste it first!. It might have gone bad!. But it won't get stronger over time!. The bottle should say how much alcohol it has!. if not, 15% !.!. like porter wine, is a good guess!.

But also !.!. go to a wine store or an asian mart and buy some good sake !.!. should cost in the neighborhood of $12 to $20 for a not bad 1l bottle of the stuff!. (sometimes a little cheaper) Then you will know what it should taste like!.

also look up on the net if if should be drunk warm!? room temp!? or cold!?

sake has its own odd flavour, a bit like slightly sour rice water!. After a few tries !.!. it tastes not bad!.

some think it great !.!. others think it nasty!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Funny you say that!. I've got an old bottle from my dad (RIP) that has to be 20+!. It's sentimental, so I don't believe I'll open it!. I remember him opening one when I was a kid, it had to be 15+!. It had gone sour!. It had a bad taste to it!. I imagine yours is the same!. You may want to have a back up bottle from a local wine shop if that's no good!.

Good Saki has a clean, smooth flavor to it!. It's kind of strong if you've never had it, especially if it's warm!. I prefer chilled Saki, though some are better served warm!. Warm Saki gives me heartburn!

You may want to try Takasago Ginga Shizuku Divine Droplets Junmai Daiginjo Sake $30!. It's drip filtered instead of pressed, so it has a clean flavor!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Sake is rice wine!. It may have turned into rice vinegar if it was not kept properly!. Taste it first before serving!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
