Congratulations on your decision!. If you drink a heavy amount regularly you might need to slow it down but if not you can just stop it!.

Fruit juices mixed with sparkly water or lo call lemonades are good substitutes, diet cokes etc!. You will find it easier to keep your mind occupied do something else rather than go to pubs and in other situations where alcohol might be a problem!.

Go to local CAAS (phone book) who will give you more advise!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

why give up alcohol completely!? I have lost two stone on a diet that included a bottle of wine a day!. A half bottle of wine only contains around 250 calories v easy to include in a low calory diet- a double of whisky/ cognac only about 140 cals!. Alcohol , red meat and spicy food also stimulate the metabolism so helps burn off cals!. Diets are much harder to stick to if totally dreary healthy stuff and dont include food drink you enjoyWww@FoodAQ@Com

Do what I did a few years ago!. I said "When I've finished this bottle I'm not buying any more"!. I finished it, and I didn't buy any more - and I've barely touched a drop since then except for the odd glass of "celebratory" champers etc!. Tell everybody that you're not going to drink any more and make sure they understand it!. YOU'LL be the one laughing on the way to the bank AND laughing when the rest of them gradually get liver failure !Www@FoodAQ@Com

no if your thinking about giving up then your just not drinking enough in the first place lol!.!.no seriously tho just set a goal and don't drink you can still be social and if you tell your friends your goals the should be supportive!and if your partner dosent drink you could spend more time togetherWww@FoodAQ@Com

Its about establishing a personal culture where you're not reaching for a drink !!

My suggestion would be to spend time with your partner and find something that you can do together, so that you're not around for a quick one with your drinking buddies !!

Oh, and stop buying it as well !! lolWww@FoodAQ@Com

Excerise will help you lose the weight, even if you just run a little bit or do sit-ups and push-ups for 10 minutes a day!. If your partner doesn't drink, it should be that much easier to break the drinking habit, just do whatever that person does at night!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Gin and slimline tonic's supposed to be good, but I don't actually like more than 2!. Going to try vodka and diet coke myself rather than wine!. As you say everyone seems to drink around you, but I guess you're lucky if your partner doesn't!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Just keep on reminding yourself of the positives of not drinking!. You'll lose weight, feel healthier, no hangovers, you'll save money & not have to fork out on taxi fares!. All the best, stayed focused & get slim :o)Www@FoodAQ@Com

I think talking to someone about it will help and try not to put yourself in situations where alcohol is involved and if you give it up you will feel heaps better for itWww@FoodAQ@Com

I gave it up 3 months back and lost a stone!. It's not easy 'cos everyone else still drinks, but stay with it!. The bonus comes with how much better you'll feel after a while!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
