I live in Massachusettes and I purchased?!
a growler of beer at a restaurant to take home and they charged me the sales tax!.The grocery store has the same item and doesn't charge sales tax, can anyone tell my why!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

It may have gone under a food tax because it was purchased at the restaurant!. Or perhaps it wasn't put into the computer system correctly if they have one!. I'm from MA too!.

eI'm from Florida and lived in PA most of my life!.!.!.each town, state, district may have different rules!.!.!.it may be the kind of license they have!.!.!.it could have been a mistake!. PA!.!.!.Restaurants don't charge tax!.!.!.the liquor store does and it is State owned!. If you feel you shouldn't have been charged, give them a call!.!.!.they could probably give you the answer as well!.!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Alcohol is always subject to sales tax, as it's not an essential item for most people!. The grocery store is making the error, not the restaurant!. Keep you mouth shut at the store and enjoy the extra benefit!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
