It would be fine for short term storage, but after repeated opening and closing, the humidity will eventually be lost!.
I've heard of using dried fruit, like peaches or apricots, inside of a sealed container as a humification device!. Supposedly, the fruit either gives off or absorbes water depending on the need!. I have never tried it, but a friend of mine who smokes cigars like a fiend swears that it works!.
A decent humidor can be had for $50 though, so why spend the money on good smokes and then cheap-out on the storage!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

It really depends on how long you plan on keeping the cigars in the tupperware!. I wouldn't keep them for more than 5 days without humidification; and on the same note I wouldn't humidify the tupperware with something, like a wet sponge in a dish for instance, without having a gauge!.
What I might suggest to you if you plan on keeping them for a bit longer than a week is to go to a cigar shop and either buy a cheap humidor or ask for some empty "tubos", the hard wood-lined tubes that some cigars are sold in!. If they are kept in the humidor for a while without the lids they may hold the moisture a little longer, but might mix the taste of the old cigars with your new ones!.
