Question: Is he an alchoholic!? (10 pts)!?
My brother !.!.!. He drinks 3 beers every day when he gets home work !.!. is he an alcholic>!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
if he admits he has a problem then he is an alcoholic

some people just kick back a few to unwind!.
i have a glass of wine a few times a week!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

he could very well be!. A lot of people drank this way and didn't know they were alcoholcs for years until it got out of control!. We also hear people say that the French etc drink wine everyday and live a long time but now it's coming out that this isn't true and they have a huge alcoholism problem!. If you're brother isn't an alcoholic, he sounds like he's trying to be and for sure will create a dependency over time if he does this long enough!. The National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (NCADD) and the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) define alcohol 'abuse' in 3 ways and one is daily drinking!. they also state that abuse can lead to dependance i!.e!. addiction/alcoholism!. the other 2 indications are binge drinking (heavy drinking but only every weekend or few weeks) and/or a need to drink to feel normal or as if they can cope!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Can he forego them if necessary!? Alcoholism is described as an addiction, not as a habit!. If he can go w/o the beers(say he needed to drive somewhere or work overtime) then he is not-if he has to have those 3 beers come hell or high water, he is!.
But, I have to say, I think you're making a mountain out of a molehill-it's 3 beers,WTF!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

hmm i would need more information!. "drinking in moderation" can be up to 3 drinks per day for men of average weight!. so the questoin woudl be, does he feel a psychological or physical need to it!? then that woudl make him an alcoholic, but i believe that this habit if it does nto get any worse does not necessarily qualify himWww@FoodAQ@Com

Honestly, it will probably vary in people's answers!. In my opinion, YES!. A "normal" non-alcoholic does not typically drink every day--and 3, everyday!.!. Ask him what's up, if he's having any problems you don't know about!. also, if he's become less sociable, worries about his next drink, has high tolerance!.!.then you should be quite worried & urge him to get some help!. good luck!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

How old is your brother!? If he has homework he must be too young anyway, and when you are younger drinking that much beer a day can hurt your body a lot more than if he was older!. So I wouldn't call him an alcoholic just that if he doesn't stop then he will have a harder life!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If he absolutely HAS to have those beers!.!.yes, I would say he is!. It has nothing to do with whether or not he appears drunk!. Many alcoholics do not appear drunk even when they've had wayyy too much, because they become accustomed to alcohol!. Does he ever NOT drink!? And how is he when he can't have his beers!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Well it depends, if he gets drunk then yes!.!.Now im just saying, if he tries to atk u try these counter attacks:
swift hit in the sides of his neck(a bit under the ears)
kick in the stomach(do it hard, he should throw up, so watch out)Www@FoodAQ@Com

In my opinion it depends how long he's been doing it!. If it's a new thing maybe its just a phase cause I know I've had that before and now I never even think about drinking!. But everyday for a period of time is a concern!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I wouldn't say so at all! Studies might say that he is!.!. but 3 beers isn't a big deal!.!. I think what makes you an alcoholic is if you get DRUNK everyday or by yourself or can't go a day without getting drunk!. 3 beers is childs play!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

it starts with one beer a day!.!. then leads to two and now he's at three!.!. eventually he will need more and more beer to make him feel how 3 beers can make him feel now!. so yes, i would say he's an alcoholic!.!. or atleast on the way thereWww@FoodAQ@Com

Three beers a day is not an unhealthy amount!. So even if he was addicted he is not hurting himself and it does not sound like he is hurting anyone else!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Not necessarily!. Does he NEED it!? People can certainly enjoy 3 beers a day without being an alcoholic!. Sounds like he doesn't even get drunk!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It depends on whether he needs to have those 3 beers or not!. If he just has them cause he feels like them no!. I wouldn't say 3 beers was excessive compared to some alcoholics!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

hmm nope beer has to low an alcohol percentage!. A friend of mine i know i would call an alcoholic because he drinks about half a 750 ml bottle of whiskey a dayWww@FoodAQ@Com

Maybe, but if it gets worst (more aggressive, more drunk, more beers or wines!.)Www@FoodAQ@Com

If he gets iritable without it ,he has a problem!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

A health educator would probably say yes, but it depends who you're asking, how old he is etc!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Drinking out of necessity is an alcoholic, yes!. Habit is the first sign!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'd say that's pretty normal!. Just to unwind!. I wouldn't worry about it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Does it affect his day to day life in a negative way!? Does it make him depressed!? Angry!?

If not, he's fine!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

nahhhh he not , its only beeeer if it was something bad than that could be a n alchoholicWww@FoodAQ@Com

no not three beers!.!.!.!.!.!.!.but if it starts to get worse then there might be a problem!.!.!.!.!.!. but i wouldnt worry!.!.!.my bro drinks a lot more than that!.!.!.!.A LOT MOREWww@FoodAQ@Com

depends if hes drunk, but i'd say yes!.and depends on how much he can hold with out being drunk!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

of course notWww@FoodAQ@Com

yes, maybe he feels control even , but is not healthyWww@FoodAQ@Com
